The opening hours of the Radiology Department are:

Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 20:00
Saturday: 08:00 – 13:00

Do I need to have an appointment for an X-ray or ultrasound examination?

For Radiological examinations (X-rays) no appointment is required, we serve on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, for specialised radiological examinations such as:

UltrasoundMammography & Mammography TomosynthesisBone Density Measurement (DEXA)Dental Imaging

an appointment is recommended.

Do I need any preparation before the Panoramic X-ray or 3D CBCT imaging?

Usually no special preparation is required before a panoramic radiograph or 3D CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography). However, we recommend the following:

  • Removal of metal objects: before the examination, you will be asked to remove earrings, glasses, dentures, tweezers or other metal objects in the head and neck area, as they may affect the quality of the imaging.
  • Information in case of pregnancy: If you are pregnant or there is a possibility of pregnancy, it is important to tell the operator before the test.
  • Previous X-rays or referral: If you have a referral or previous relevant imaging, you can bring them with you to help with comparison and evaluation.
Do I need any preparation before the mammography test?

Yes, there are some useful guidelines to follow for proper preparation before a mammogram:

🔹 Prefer to schedule the test on the 7th-12th day of your cycle if you are of childbearing age. At this stage the breast is less sensitive and the test is more tolerable and reliable.

  • Do not use deodorant, powder or cream on the underarm and breast area on the day of the test. Certain ingredients may affect the accuracy of the imaging.
  • Wear comfortable clothing, ideally double-breasted (e.g. blouse and trousers/skirt), so that only the upper part is removed for the test.
  • If you have previous mammograms, it is a good idea to have them with you or send them in advance so that they can be compared with the new images.
  • Inform staff if you are pregnant or breastfeeding so that they can assess whether the test is necessary and safe.

Mammography is a quick, non-invasive test that plays a key role in the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.

Do I need any preparation before the Bone Density Test (DEXA)?

Yes, there are some simple guidelines that are important to follow for the accuracy of the DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) test:

  • Avoid taking calcium supplements (e.g. calcium, multivitamins with calcium) at least 24 hours before the test as they may affect the results.
  • Do not wear clothes with metal parts (e.g. zippers, buttons, hooks) in the waist and pelvic area. Comfortable clothing without metallic elements is recommended.
  • Tell the staff if you have recently had another imaging test with contrast material (such as a CT scan with contrast or scintigraphy). It may be necessary to delay the test for a few days to ensure the reliability of the results.
  • In case of pregnancy or possible pregnancy, please inform the staff before starting the test, as DEXA is not indicated during pregnancy.

The test is painless, short and low radiation, making it the “gold standard” for the diagnosis of osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Registration before the Examination

When you register at the Reception Department, depending on the test you are taking, you may be asked some questions. You may also be asked to complete and sign a short questionnaire.
